About

I was born and raised in Panama City, Panama. I moved to Miami to study film. Then I moved to California to pursue a film career that never really took off.

I spent my twenties making short films and thinking about stories. Somewhere around thirty, I realized I was just as interested in how businesses work as I was in how stories work. So I went back to school, earned an MBA, and started over.

I became an accountant. Then a CPA. I built a career in corporate accounting and finance at companies whose names you’d recognize, managing operations that stretched across Latin America, Europe, and Asia, closing the books in multiple currencies, and working alongside personalities as big as the brands.

Most recently, I completed the CFO Program at Columbia Business School, which changed how I think about decisions, leadership, and when you actually have enough information to act.

I started this blog in 2011 to organize my thoughts. I write about business, leadership, and the things I notice that don’t quite add up. I’m not trying to be an expert on everything. But I’ve sat in enough rooms and seen enough bad decisions dressed up as strategy to have opinions worth sharing.

I live in Los Angeles with my husband Mario.
